Legally mandated, DUI, Alcohol, or Drug Use Risk Reduction is an intervention program designed for individuals who have been convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI), possession of illegal drugs, underage possession of alcohol while operating a motor vehicle, or Boating Under the Influence (BUI). This program comprises two essential components: an assessment component and an intervention component. Successful completion of both components is necessary to obtain a certificate of completion.
Timely attendance and completion of each session in sequence are mandatory. Late arrival may result in denial of entry, while absences or early departures might necessitate restarting the course at no additional charge; other schools may charge an extra $235 for this. Please review the course schedule thoroughly and consider any potential scheduling conflicts before committing to attend by signing a contract.
The Georgia DDS Certified risk reduction course consists of two components: the (1) Assessment Component (NEEDS Assessment) and the (2) Intervention Component. Successful completion of both is necessary to obtain a Certificate of Completion.
The Assessment Component is the initial step and involves a comprehensive 130-question screening to evaluate an individual’s alcohol and drug use and its impact on driving.
Following the Assessment Component, the Intervention Component is administered. This comprises a 20-hour course conducted over multiple sessions, with group-based instruction provided over several days. The Intervention Component includes therapeutic education and peer group counseling, addressing topics such as alcohol and drug use and their effects on driving.
The NEEDS Assessment Component has been sanctioned by DDS for utilization in Georgia, exclusively owned by ADE, Inc. This 130-question comprehensive screening tool assesses an individual's alcohol and drug consumption and its influence on driving. The Assessment is available both online and at Barber's Driving School.
At present, Georgia DDS has endorsed the Prime for Life Intervention Component for implementation within the state. This program is copyrighted by the Prevention Research Institute, Inc.
Bi-City DUI & Driving School has been Georgia DDS Certified to teach the Georgia DDS Certified DUI/ Risk Reduction for about 20 years.
The entire 20-hour course takes 2 1/2 days! Please check our schedules as we do off a variety of different options.
A refund for the classroom segment of the program will be provided in the event of non-attendance.
DDS does not accept Certificates of Completion from online DUI, Alcohol, or Drug Use Risk Reduction courses for any matters pertaining to an individual’s driver’s license or driving privileges.
